Varalakshmi Vratham

Friday, July 20, 2010 at 6pm

Varalakshmi Vratham is performed by married women to ensure the happiness and prosperity of their families. It is said that Parvathi Devi asked her husband if there is any puja that women could perform for the well being of their family. Lord Shiva replied “Women should perform Varalakshmi Puja on Friday before Poornima in the month of Shravan”.

Rig Veda Upaakarma
Monday, August 23, 2010 at 7:30am

Upaakarma is a vedic ritual to be performed y Grihastas and Brahmacharyas. When we indulge in our daily routine we are bound to lose track of vedic understanding. In order to regain mastery over these on the day of Upaakarma we perform two rituals known as Upaakarma and Sarjanam.
Each year this will be done by the followers of Yajur on the full moon day in the month of Sravana and by Rig Vedis on the Sravana Nakshatra in the month of Sravana and the same Vedis on the Hastha Nakshatra day of the Sravana month.
